Welcome to the Durham FM Association

The Durham FM Association is a group of friendly amateur radio operators interested in all aspects of amateur radio service. Members in Durham, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and surrounding areas of North Carolina enjoy operating through VHF and UHF repeaters sponsored and maintained by the club.

Currently the club operates FM voice repeaters on 145.450-, 147.225+, 224.260-, 444.100+ and 444.450+ mhz(the plus and minus indicating standard offsets on the respective bands).

We meet on the 1st Tuesday of the month (see Calendar) with Dinner (optional) at 6:00pm and the business meeting and program at 7:00pm.  We are meeting at Bullock's BBQ, on 3330 Quebec Drive in Durham. [click for map]   (For more info on each meeting, check the Calendar entry.)

Our club runs a great hamfest toward the end of May each year. The DurHamFest was held in the Little River Community Complex the last three year and is expected to be there again in 2010.  Dealers sell new and used equipment, books, and parts. "Tailgaters" also offer much used equipment. Besides the buying, selling, and trading, door prizes and fellowship with old and new friends make this a real fun event.

This web page is a work in progress.  Please give us feedback at the meeting telling us what you do and don't like on this web site.  Thanks!

I am getting desperate and sending this message to all the Ham
Clubs I can find on the Net.  If I find one that will respond, I
will let all the other know I had a little luck... Many thanks.
+++++============================
Sirs.  I am a very old retired Ham.  I am trying to start a New Ham
Class in my area.  I need some things that your club just may hve.
I want to teach antenna Theory first and I need an old MaxCom
antenna matcher either for sale, Give away, Borrow to show my
class and demonstrate its charictistice.  Yes I do know all about
the MaxCom and its bad rep.  But teaching the bad along with
the good is still teaching and learning.   If any one of you people
does have an Old MaxCom Antenna matcher around, I sure
would like to have it.  I will return if borrowed.   If selling, please
keep it with in my budget. I will gladly make a donation to
Your Radio Club.   Many thanks and cheers.   73

March 3rd Progam: Field Day Planning and Organization
Written by Dee Ramm
Monday, 23 February 2009

Dave Snyder, W4SAR, will discuss Field Day organization and planning.  Dave is the field day coordinator for OCRA.  He will show what has gone into planning and execution of past, successful  field day events in Orange County.  This program is particularly relevant since the DFMA has decided to join up with OCRA for this June's field day.

Dave is also the liaison for the VE testing team that provides regular VE testing opportunities in this area.

Several years ago, Dave presented an oustanding DFMA program on one of his other hobbies, reenacting battles and events of the American Revolution.
